Soft News
Most of the programming we have focused on in the first semester has been individual Report or Team Anchor Pieces. We have focused on writing different types of news stories, figuring out how to make a story VISUAL rather than written, how to act in front of the camera, how to interview vox pop style and how to be an Anchor. This project is a bit more open, enabling us to Report and Producer on lighter topics.
We chose topics considered “SOFT NEWS” defined as information that is primarily entertaining or personally useful. Although the term soft news was originally synonymous with feature stories placed in newspapers or television newscasts for human interest, the concept expanded to include a wide range of media outlets that present more personality-centered stories. Anchored by Raymond Lubrino '21, and Jerry Cicchillo '20, produced by Tyler Hawkins '21.
